Markets head into the week facing one of the most important combinations of the summer: June inflation data and the start of second-quarter earnings season. Investors will closely watch CPI on Tuesday, PPI on Wednesday, and retail sales on Thursday particularly as renewed tensions in the Middle East and disruptions around the Strait of Hormuz have pushed oil prices higher. Earnings season begins in earnest with reports providing a critical read on consumer demand, credit conditions, and AI-related investment trends. With major U.S. indices near record highs and markets reassessing the likelihood of future Fed rate hikes, the combination of inflation data, earnings results, and Fed Chair Kevin Warsh’s congressional testimony could set the tone for risk assets through the rest of July.
